Jets Re-Sign DL Xavier Cooper To One-Year Deal

Manish Mehta reports that the Jets have re-signed DL Xavier Cooper to a one-year contract on Monday.

Cooper, 26, is a former third-round pick out of Washington State by the Browns in the 2015 NFL Draft. He was entering the third year out of a four-year, $2.907 million rookie contract and set to earn a base salary of $615,00 for the 2017 season when the Browns cut him coming out of the preseason.

The 49ers later claimed Cooper off of waivers only to cut him loose a few months into the season. Cooper signed on with the Jets and finished out the year in New York.

In 2017, Cooper appeared in 13 games for the Jets and Browns and recorded 17 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him down for playing 202 total snaps.
