Jeremy Fowler reports that the Jets and free agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick have not spoken to each other in “over a month“, regarding his negotiation for a new contract.
Jason Cole of B/R, citing two sources close to Fitzpatrick, also reported on Tuesday that thereโs no end in sight to the situation between him and the Jets.
Cole said that this could very well spill over into training camp, as Fitzpatrick believes the Jets will eventually give in, considering that they elected to lock up DL Muhammad Wilkersonย right before last weekโs deadline.
Cole confirmed that Fitzpatrick hasnโt been in contact with the Jets, but mentions that things could pick up after this weekend.
Fitzpatrick, 32, played outย the final year of his two-year, $7.5 million contractย that includedย $4 million guaranteed and is currently theย best quarterback stillย available in this yearโs market.
In 2015, Fitzpatrick threwย for 3,905 yards while completing 59.6ย percent of his passes to go along with 31ย touchdowns and 15 interceptions. Pro Football Focus has Fitzpatrick rated as the No. 27 quarterback out of 37 qualifying players.
We have himย featuredย in ourย Best Available Free Agents list.
