Jordy Nelson Officially Retires As Member Of Packers

The Green Bay Packers announced Sunday that veteran WR Jordy Nelson will sign a one-day contract to officially retire as a member of the organization.

Nelson announced his retirement from the NFL back in March, despite drawing some interest as a free agent.

Nelson visited with the Seahawks after becoming a free agent and reportedly had interest from four other teams, but ultimately elected to call it a career.

Nelson, 33, is a former second-round pick of the Packers back in 2008. He was entering the final year of his five-year, $43 million contract when the Packers released him last year.

The Raiders later signed Nelson to a two-year, $15 million contract, but was released in March.

For his career, Nelson played 10 seasons for the Packers and Raiders and caught 613 passes for 8,587 yards receiving and 72 touchdowns over the course of 151 games played. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2014 and was named Comeback Player of the Year in 2016.
