Tony Grossi of ESPN Cleveland mentions that there was aย “definite feeling” following Browns GM Ray Farmer‘s press conference Tuesday that WR Josh Gordon will not be back with the team next year.
According to Grossi, the Brownsย couldย make a decision regarding Gordon’s future with the team at some point next week.
The Browns wound upย suspending Gordon for violating team rules ahead of their season finale last week, which happens to be hisย third suspension in the pastย two years.
His most recent suspension could prevent him from becoming an unrestricted free agent after the 2015 season.
Gordon, 23, has plenty of talent and could be a core player for the Browns moving forward, but the consistent issues with him will likely impact his NFL career and futureย in Cleveland.
He still has another year remaining on hisย four-year, $5.342 million rookie contractย that$3.8 million ย included guaranteed. Gordon will make a base salary of $1,068,406 for the 2015 season.
This year,ย Gordon has appeared in five games and caught 24 passes for 303 yards receiving, but no touchdowns.
We’ll have more regarding Gordon and the Browns as the news is available.
