Forte (@MattForte22) followed up his previous tweet by mentioning that he’s open to some addedย competition.
“For the record I’m not mad at the signing of another running back….I embrace competition as well as help.”
This it the best part!
“But as for not taking care of ur own and undervaluing a player under his market value is another story!”
I can understand why the Bears aren’t jumping to give Forte a top-ten contract but so enough they’ll have to make a decision regarding his future with the team because franchise tags increase by 20% forย consecutiveย years. If Chicago isn’t willing to pay him, I’m sure someone will be.

The Chicago Bears recent signing of Michael Bush apparently isn’t sitting well with RB Matt Forte. Chicago has been promising him that a long-term deal would eventually get done for a while now, but the Bears elected to franchise him and sign someone else in free agency.
Forte expressed his disappointment with the teams’ decision today on his twitter account.
“There’s only so many times a man that has done everything he’s been asked to doย can be disrespected! Guess the GOOD GUYS do finish last….”
He also retweeted some comments from his former teammate Greg Olsen that helped toย emphasize his frustrations further.
It’s surprising to see theย Bearsย continue to slight their best offensive weapon who is still just 26 years old. Forte figures to be an obvious holdout candidate at this point in time.

I’m tired of listening to him whine. What the Bears are offering is a fair deal for his services. If he goes all year under the franchise tag, the Bears will tag him again next year, and then he will be too old to sign a long term deal. I say trade Forte to Cleveland for the their 22nd pick and their 3rd round pick. The Bears would have 2 1st, 1 2nd and 2 3rd round picks. Kahlil Bell ran well enough last season to play back up to Bush. Pick up a WR and DE in the first round, a OL in the second round and some more defense in the 3rd round.
I’ve always defended Forte and respected his situation, but he and his agent are pissing me off. Of course him wanting a long term deal is fair, but to act like all other team business is supposed to stop for you is asinine and selfish. The fact is, the Bears have made him offers and tried to work a deal out. The fact that they’re not willing to overpay him like other teams is them looking out for the team.ย
Until the Bears bring in a RB and pay him what Forte is asking for, they haven’t disrespected him. It’s not like they’re paying Bush a ton. He’s getting less than half of what Forte would. He shouldn’t act like the Bears wouldn’t sign him to a fair deal. The fact is his idea of fair is different than the team’s.ย
Does Forte realize that his inability to find common ground with now TWO general managers has created the Bears need to sign Michael Bush?ย ย Forte is half of the problem here, not just the Bears’ leaders.
That’s a quality point but Jerry Angelo was reportedly low-balling him throughout their negotiations and offering him a similar deal to the one that Frank Gore got.
