Matt Leinart‘s time in Arizona could be coming to end after what has been somewhat of a disappointing start to his career.
After getting benched for last weekends game against Chicago, Leinart has responded by saying that he doesn’t understand why he was benched given that he has out performed the competition.
Clark Judge of CBS Sports wrote that Leinart could be in danger of being cut given that he hasn’t shown any signs of buying into the teams direction.
Head coach Ken Whisenhunt has already indicated that he plans on sticking with Derek Anderson for the teams final preseason game which far from an endorsement of Leinarts ability to play quarterback.
The Cardinal could look to trade him instead of keeping him as the teams backup but they would be hard-pressed to get much value for him given that he has yet to show any signs of being able to play quarterback in the NFL. The Giants could be a team that may take a chance on him as their backup given that Jim Sorgi has been placed on IR.
