According to Falcons head coach Mike Smith, Matt Ryan suffered a sprain to his non-throwing shoulder that will not require offseason surgery. The injury happened during theย fourth quarter of Sunday’s NFC Championship loss to the 49ers.

Shoulder injuries are never good news for quarterbacks,ย but considering that it involves hisย non-throwing shoulder, it’s safe to assume that he will be available for the team’s offseason program.
Reports from yesterday indicated that the Falcons are prepared to offer Ryan a “mega-deal” at some point in the near future, so I’m sure they’re glad that surgery has been ruled out for their franchise quarterback.
