Adam Schefter reports that Michigan DT Maurice Hurst has been diagnosed with a heart condition on Saturday at the NFL Combine.
- According to Schefter, Hurst will not participate in Combine drills and will instead undergo further testing this week.
- Dane Brugler adds that NFL teams are “very concerned” about Hurst and his heart condition.
This is terrible news for Hurst, who was considered to be a potential first-round pick in the coming months.
Hopefully, this turns about to be nothing major and Hurst will be able to continue his football career. However, it’s worth mentioning that veteran DT Nick Fairley missed the entire 2017 season with a heart condition and it remains to be seen whether he’ll ever play again.
Hurst, 22, is among the top interior defensive line prospects in the 2018 draft class.ย He was a consensus All-America as a senior.
During his four-year college career, Hurst recorded 130 tackles, 32 tackles for a loss, 13.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and three pass defenses over the course of 41 games.
We’ll have more regarding Hurst as the news is available.
