Adam Schefterย of ESPN reports that WR Mike Wallace “is prepared to sit out offseason drills and at least the start ofย trainingย camp.”
Schefter adds thatย Wallace has informed theย Steelers that he’s not going toย sign his restricted free agent tenderย “until he has to.”
Pittsburgh place a first-roundย tender on him which will pay him $2.7 million for the 2012 season. Wallace appears to be looking for a huge pay increase that would make him a top-five salary. He’ll have untilย until June 15th to sign his tender or the Steelers can drop the price toย $577,500.
Things could end up getting pretty contentious by the time the June deadline rolls around, so it will be interesting to see how the Steelers handle the situation.
