Multiple Teams Have Reached Out To Browns About Trading For Josh Gordon, CLE Not Interested

Adam Schefter of ESPN, citing league sources, reports that multiple teams have reached out to the Browns to inquire about potential trades involvingย WR Josh Gordon.

However, a Browns team source tells Schefter that theyย are not looking to trade Gordon and are instead trying toย establish an environment in which Gordon could thrive. Beyond that, many around the NFL viewย Hue Jackson as beingย the right coach to help Gordon get things turned around.

Schefter adds that it will still be interesting to see if a teamย is willing to part with enough to get the Browns interested.

The Browns activated Gordon from the active/non-football injury list after dealing with a quad injury sinceย he was reinstated on a conditional basis by the NFL.

Gordonย will be forced to serve a four-game suspension at the start of the season, but he can at least participate in the Browns’ preseason. Beyond that,ย Gordon will still have to participate in treatment during this period.

The good news it that the NFL will allow Gordon to take part in meetings during his four-gameย suspension.

Mary Kay Cabot points out thatย Gordon’sย suspension will cost him $251,389 of his $1,068,406 2016 salary.

Gordon, 25, is a former second-round supplemental pick of the Browns back in 2012. He would have had just one moreย year remaining on hisย four-year, $5.342 million rookie contractย that$3.8 million included guaranteed.

However, Gordon’s prior suspensionย will prevent himย fromย becoming an unrestricted free agent after the 2015 season.ย Ian Rapoportย mentioned a while backย that Gordon’s suspensionย will keep be under contract through the 2016 season before becomingย a restricted free agent in 2017.

In 2014,ย Gordon appeared in five games and caught 24 passes for 303 yards receiving, but didn’t score aย touchdown.
