NFC Notes: Bears, Buccaneers, Saints

Bears

Jets S Jamal Adams says he thought the Bears were going to draft him in round one last year before they surprisingly traded up to get QB Mitch Trubisky.

โ€œIโ€™m not even going to sugar coat it,โ€ Adams said, via Manish Mehta of theย New York Daily News. โ€œI thought I was going to be a Chicago Bear. Everybody did. But it didnโ€™t work out that way. And I landed in the best possible position.

โ€œHonestly, I did not know,โ€ Adams added. โ€œThe cameras were on Mitch [Trubisky] and me. So, we did not know. The cameras were on both of us. We definitely didnโ€™t know. No one got the call. The Commissioner made the pick. No one in the green room got a call. No one.โ€

Buccaneers

  • Whenย asked about the upcoming NFL trade deadline, Buccaneers HC Dirk Koetter said GM Jason Licht has asked him about a few players to get his input. (Greg Auman)

Saints

Saints CB Eli Apple, who was recently acquired from the Giants, said he did not “necessarily” need a change of scenery, but is glad to be in New Orleans.

I wouldnโ€™t necessarily say I needed it, but itโ€™s great to have one right now,” said Apple, via Josh Katzenstein.
