NFC Notes: Packers, Saints, Vikings

Packers

There has been a lot of speculation in recent weeks that the Packers could be a landing spot for Raiders DE Khalil Mack, given that they need a pass rusher and have two first-round picks to work with next year.

Packers GM Brian Gutekunst was asked about the possibility of trading for a star pass rusher.

โ€œI think with any players that are available, weโ€™re going to look at every avenue to help our football team,โ€ Gutekunst told Sirius XM NFL Radio, via Pro Football Talk. โ€œI think weโ€™ve always been a draft and development team here for a long time, but if there are players that can help us, and right now, I think we will use every avenue to help our team.โ€

Gutekunst was also asked if they’re willing to go all in to win a Super Bowl.

โ€œWeโ€™ve always operated that way,โ€ Gutekunst said. โ€œIn this town, thereโ€™s only one thing that matters, and thatโ€™s winning championships. And I think every year is a new year and every year weโ€™re kind of all in to see if we can do that. So I think that philosophy here has been here for a long time, and hasnโ€™t changed.โ€

Saints

  • Ian Rapoport reports that an MRI revealed that Saints DE Alex Okaforย has just a bone bruise and a sprained ankle, despite going down with what appeared to be a more serious injury during Wednesday’s practice.
  • Neil Stratton reports that former Redskins senior personnel executive Scott Campbell has joined the Saints as an area scout.

Vikings

Vikings’ third-year WR Laquon Treadwell said that while he has been producing in practice, he feels that he hasn’t arrived yet.

โ€œI know I havenโ€™t arrived technically even though Iโ€™m making a lot of plays, scoring a lot of TDs and doing a lot of great things… I know thereโ€™s a lot to still accomplish.. I’m just looking forward to coming out tomorrow and building another good day,” said Treadwell, via Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press.

  • Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press reports that the Vikings LB Antwione Williams was arrested in Edina in May on suspicion of drunken driving and pleaded guilty in July to a misdemeanor charge of careless driving.
  • According to the report, Williams entered an amended plea of guilty to a charge of careless driving, and the DWI and speeding charges were dropped.
  • Williams has been placed on probation for one year to go along with conditions that prevent him from having another moving violation or alcohol-related traffic offense and completing a DWI assessment.
