Brian Allee-Walsh of New Orleans.com reports that the New Orleans Saints have made the decision to retain RB Pierre Thomas today. The Saints have reportedly signed Thomas to a four-year contract. ESPN’s Adam Schefter adds that the deal is for a total of $12 million which a great deal for the Saints.
It seemed as though things were up-in-the-air in regards to whether or not the Saints would retain Thomas because of the emergence of Chris Ivory but considering that Reggie Bush is set to make $11 million for the 2011 season, the deal makes plenty of sense. New Orleans will now have leverage in theirย negotiationsย with Bush which could result in them releasing him.
