NFL Notes: 49ers, Jaguars, Panthers, & Redskins

49ers

49ers HC Chip Kelly said heโ€™s been impressed by QB Blaine Gabbertโ€˜s athleticism.

โ€œHeโ€™s extremely athletic,โ€ Kelly said, via 49ers.com. โ€œItโ€™s interesting, the three of them, if you look at Driskel, Blaine and Kap, theyโ€™re all 6-4 plus, and all can run. All of them are at 4.6 (seconds in the 40-yard dash) or under 4.6, which is kind of rare to have three guys that can do the same thing. Itโ€™s beneficial to you.

โ€œThe one thing that jumped out right away was just how athletic Blaine was. We did not play against him when I was in Philly, so this is really my first exposure to him. But I think his athleticism is the first thing that kind of jumped out at me.โ€

Kelly also talked up RB Carlos Hyde, referring to him as a โ€œstudโ€ running back.

โ€œCarlos is a stud,โ€ Kelly said. โ€œHeโ€™s been full-go since we started in the beginning of April.โ€

โ€œHe is as advertised,โ€ Kelly added. โ€œTo have someone that size who is that agile and has that vision, itโ€™s really impressive to see him work every day.โ€

Jaguars

Panthers

Panthers HC Ron Rivera mentioned that heโ€™s been pleased with their three drafted cornerbacks โ€” James Bradberry, Daryl Worley and Zack Sanchez.

With this in mind, Rivera said they have no plans to sign a veteran free agent at this point in time.

โ€œI guess if we did do something it would be later on. But right now weโ€™re set,โ€ Rivera said, via the Charlotte Observer. โ€œWeโ€™re very happy with what weโ€™ve seen the last two practices with the young guys.โ€

Redskins

Redskins third-round CB Kendall Fuller (knee) says heโ€™ll โ€œdefinitely be goodโ€ for the start of training camp.

โ€œYeah, Iโ€™ll definitely be good by training camp,โ€ Fuller said, via Redskins.com. โ€œRight now theyโ€™re just taking it slow, so they can see where Iโ€™m at for themselves. But moving along quick, just taking it day by day.โ€

Fuller has yet to receive clearance to participate in on-field work. However, heโ€™s been working with the training staff off to the side.
