Bills

• Two sources tell Jason Cole that the quarterback competition between Matt Cassel, Tyrod Taylor and EJ Manuel is “even” thus far.
• None of the three quarterbacks has really stood out.

Browns

• Browns HC Mike Pettine said that Johnny Manziel will get some time with starters during Friday’s scrimmage. (Pat McManamon)
• However, Pettine added Josh McCown is “firmly the one.” (Pat McManamon)

Chargers

Chargers QB Philip Rivers mentioned that he wouldn’t hold his breath expecting any news regarding a contract extension any time soon.

“My mentality has been the same since March, which is I’m playing this season right here,” Rivers said, via Eric D. Williams of ESPN.com. “Like I said a few weeks ago, if something happens, it does. But I don’t think you should hold your breath for an update any time soon.”

Falcons

• ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Falcons RB Devonta Freeman injured his hamstring during Thursday’s practice, which is concerning give that rookie RB Tevin Coleman is already nursing a hamstring injury of his own.

Raiders

• Raiders RB Trent Richardson was cleared to practice for the first time since training camp on Thursday. (Steve Corkran)
