NFL Notes: Browns, Cowboys, Patriots & Redskins

Browns

  • Adam Schefter reports that Browns OL Cam Erving is in stable condition at Cleveland’s University Hospital, and currently undergoing testing for chest and rib injuries.

Cowboys

  • Cowboys owner Jerry Jones mentioned that Tony Romo underwent an extensive back examination with team doctors Sunday morning and there’s currently no change in his status. (Ed Werder)
  • Jones said that they have no concerns about rookie RB Ezekiel Elliott‘s two fumbles being a problem going forward. (Brandon George)

Patriots

For what it’s worth, a long-time NFL scout told Tom Pelissero that he would draft Jacoby Brissett over Dak Prescott if it was up to him based on Brissett’s physical skills and arm.

“He’s got good enough physical skills and arm,” the scout said of Brissett. “He’s mobile, but not like a Dak Prescott. I think he’s a tough kid and he’s a smart kid and he’s a producer.”

All indications are that the Patriots will be without Jimmy Garoppolo for at least Week 3’s game against the Texans, and possibly as long as six weeks. (NFLTR)

Of course, Tom Brady will be back from suspension in a little over two weeks.

Redskins

  • Redskins HC Jay Gruden told reporters after Sunday’s game that NT Kedric Golston will undergo an MRI for his hamstring injury this week.
