San Diego Stadium
- San Diego City Council voted 6-3 in favor of authorizing a $2.1 million Mission Valley stadium environmental impact report, perย Eric D. Williams of ESPN.
Seahawks
- John Boyle of the Seahawks official site writes that free agent acquisition CB Cary Williams “appears” to be the leading candidate to start opposite of Richard Sherman.
- Boyle adds that members of the coaching staff “speak highly” on Williams, though CB Tharold Simon will push for a starting spot upon returning from a shoulder injury. Boyle adds that fifth-round rookie CB Tye Smith is also someone worth keeping an eye on.
- Boyle anticipates Jeremy Lane, Will Blackmon, and Marcus Burley to compete for the nickel back spot.
Titans
Titans interim CEO and president Steve Underwood says the team will not changeย from it’s stance to have offset language in No. 2 overall pick Marcus Mariota‘s contract.
“We’ve always had offset language in our player contracts. It’s nothing new,” Underwood said. “I think it is important where a high first-round draft pick is concerned, because it’s the precedent. Everything that we do is precedential for the next round of contracts,” said Underwood, via Paul Kuharsky. “So keeping the offset in place is something we want to be able to do going forward. And the minute you back away from the contract principal then you no longer are able to assert it going forward.”
Currently, Mariota remains as one of the final three rookies that have yet to sign a contract.
