NFL Rumors: 49ers Drafting A QB In The 2nd Round?

Gil Brandt of NFL.com reports that San Francisco 49ers new head coach Jim Harbaugh was only coach to attend TCU QB Andy Daltonโ€˜s pro day. Other teams in attendance included the Cincinnati Bengals and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

As Matt Bowen of the National Football Post notes, the fact that Jim Harbaugh attended Daltonโ€™s pro day makes sense for the 49ers considering that they may be looking at taking a quarterback in the second-round rather than selecting one with the No. 7 pick overall. Bowen also mentions that the team will consider other quarterbacks that have experience in pro-style offenses such as Dalton, Florida Stateโ€™s Christian Ponder and Iowaโ€™s Ricky Stanzi.

Not that bad of an idea considering that the 49ers are a team that is a good position to compete with their division if they can add a solid veteran quarterback. Grabbing a young QB in the draft would allow them to develop him without sacrificing their chances of making the playoffs.
