Kyle Orton‘s name is a pretty popular topicย throughoutย the rumor mill these days, mainly because of the number of teams that are in need of a quarterback upgrade. While Orton is considered to be a more cost-efficient option in comparison to Kevin Kolb, his 2011 salary and roster bonus is higher than some may have thought.
As of now the Denver Broncos are set to pay Orton a $1.5 million offseason roster bonus to go along with his 2011 salary of $7.379 million which brings his total to $8.879 million. Depending on what direction John Fox and company choose ย to go in regarding the quarterback position, it would be hard to see them keeping Orton as $9 million backup quarterback. The Tim Tebow factor will have an impact on the teams decision to either retain Orton or trade him.
The most rumored team to have interest in Orton is the Tennessee Titans but they appear to be concerned about saving money where ever they can so it would take a change in thinking for them to get serious about Orton. Oh yeah, and a new CBA agreement.
