Jeff McLaneย of the Philly Inquirer responded to a question regarding Nnamdi Asomugha future will the Eagles by suggesting that he a “slim” chance of returning and would most likely have to take a pay cut.
Since his arrival in Philadelphia,ย Asomugha has been a huge disappointment. His poor play last year was attributed to the Eagles defensive scheme, but he has continued to struggle again this season and currently ranks as the No. 88 best cornerback, according to Pro Football Focus.
Asomugha, 31, is considerably slower now than he was with Oakland and his poor tackling ability is a major concern. He signed a five-year deal worth $60 million and includes $25 million in guarantees back in 2011. He’s set to makeย $15 million next season, so there’s a good chance that he’s approached to either renegotiate his contract or possible be released.
