Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy referred to todayโs decision to promoted QBs coach Tom Clements to offensive coordinator as as โobvious decisionโ following Joe Philbinโs departure for Miami.
Clements was being courted by the Pittsburgh Steelers and even received interviews for a number of head coaching vacancies last month but chose to accept the Packers job. So far, Green Bay has done a pretty good job of maintaining their coaching staff without being purged by other teams.
Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn have credited their development to Clements quarterbackโs camp that the team holdโs during training camp each year. McCarthy is still expected to be the teamโs play caller next season which he has done since arriving in Green Bay. Overall, itโs a great move the Packers.
