According to Field Yates, the Panthers have picked up G Chris Reed‘s option for the 2020 season.
Reed was claimed off waivers from Miami late in the 2019 season and will get a chance to compete for a place on the team going forward.
Reed, 27, originally signed on with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent out of Minnesota State-Mankato back in 2015. He spent his rookie season on the Jaguars’ practice squad and was on and off their roster the next two years.
Reed managed to make the 53-man roster in 2018, but Jacksonville declined to tender him a restricted offer this past offseason. The Dolphins later signed him to a two-year, $3 million contract in March before waiving him in December.
In 2019, Reed appeared in nine games for the Dolphins, starting one game, and appeared in three games for the Panthers.
