Patriots C David Andrews Hospitalized With Blood Clots, Season In Jeopardy

Update:

Good news. Jim McBride reports that Patriots C David Andrews has been released from the hospital after being treated for a blood clot in his lung.

Jeff Howe of the Athletic reports that Patriots C David Andrews is hospitalized with blood clots in his lungs and his 2019 season is in jeopardy.

According to Howe, the expectation is that Andrews will miss “significant” time with this issue.

The expectation is that the Patriots will move forward with Ted Karras at center while Andrews is away from the team.

Andrews, 27, wound up signing a three-year, $1.59 million contract with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia back in May of 2015. He was in the final year of his rookie contract when he agreed to a four-year, $9.615 million contract back in 2017.

Andrews stands to make base salaries of $2 million and $3 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Andrews appeared in all 16 games for the Patriots, making 16 starts at center. Pro Football Focus had him rated as the No. 7 center out of 38 qualifying players last year.

We’re hoping for good news and a quick return for Andrews.
