The Boston Herald reports that multiple sources have indicated that Patriots LB Jerod Mayo‘s left MCL sprain may force him to miss close to six weeks.
New England’s defense has been atrocious this season and the loss of Mayo will only make things harder going forward.
“He’s our top defender,” said Patriots NT Vince Wilfork. “He’s a top defender in this league.”
In 2008, Mayo missed three games after suffering the same injury. Gary Guyton appears to be next in line for the Pat’s but things don’t get much easier as their division rival Jets will be in town for a game that could end up having playoff implications.
