According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, the Oakland Raiders will hold private workouts with Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray and Ohio State QB Dwayne Haskins back-to-back next week.
Murray and Haskins are seen as the draft’s top two quarterbacks this year, so it’s interesting the Raiders are looking so closely at them.
New GM Mike Mayock and HC Jon Gruden have both called current starting quarterback Derek Carr a “franchise quarterback,” so the Raiders could just be doing their due diligence or trying to drum up trade interest.
Murray, 21, made the decision to pursue an NFL career despite being drafted by the Oakland A’s last year. He’s now in the discussion to be a top-10 pick and could possibly go No. 1 overall.
During this three-year college career at Texans A&M and Oklahoma, Murray completed 68.7 percent of his passes for 5,098 yards, 48 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. He also rushed for 1,369 and 12 touchdowns over the course of 28 games.
Haskins, 21, is one of the top quarterback prospects in this year’s draft class and could end up being a top-6 pick when all is said and done.
During his college career, Haskins has thrown for 5,145 yards while completing 70.2 percent of his passes to go along with 51 touchdowns and nine interceptions over the course of two seasons and 21 games. He has also rushed for 208 yards and four touchdowns.
