Rams HC Sean McVay said on Tuesday that the team is placing OLB Matt Longacre on injured reserve due to a back injury and he is scheduled to undergo surgery, per Myles Simmons.
Longacre, 26, signed on with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Northwest Missouri State back in May of 2015. He stands to make a base salary of $615,000 this year and is set to become a restricted free agent.
In 2017, Longacre has appeared in 14 games for the Rams and recorded 23 tackles, 5.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Pro Football Focus rates him as the No. 65 overall edge defender out of 111 qualifying players.
