Rams Tried Out K Brett Maher

The Los Angeles Rams brought in former Cowboys K Brett Maher for a tryout on Thursday, according to Field Yates

Rams K Greg Zuerlein is dealing with a quad injury and his status for Week 16 is in question, so it appears as though Los Angeles is lining up contingency options in case he’s unable to go this weekend.

The Titans brought Maher in for a workout last week, but did not sign him to a contract.

Maher, 30, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent of Nebraska back in 2013. He lasted just a few months in New York before he waived and later signed by the Cowboys during the preseason.

Unfortunately, Dallas cut Maher loose just a few weeks later as they cut their roster down to the 75-man limit. Maher spent three years in the CFL before signing a one-year deal with the Browns in 2017. However, Cleveland elected to move on from Maher shortly after the draft that year.

Maher signed with the Cowboys during the 2018 offseason and won a competition to become the starting kicker. However, he was waived a few days ago after a tough stretch of games.

In 2019, Maher appeared in 13 games for the Cowboys and made 20-30 field goal attempts (66.7 percent) as well as all 36 of his extra point attempts.
