Steelers WR Antonio Brown Requests Trade Out Of Pittsburgh?

Update:

Ian Rapoport reports that his understanding of the situation involvingย Steelers WRย Antonio Brownย is that Brownย exited the practice field in frustration and yelled:ย “Iโ€™m done!”

From there, Brown reportedly wondered why they don’t trade him, butย this was more of himย venting in anger than anything else.

Rapoport says that Brownย has not made any official trade request to the Steelers.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that Steelers WRย Antonio Brown hasย requested a trade out of Pittsburgh.ย La Canfora says thatย it was not aย demand, but Brown has asked to be dealt.

However, La Canfora adds that the Steelers are “very unlikely” to move him, despite the request.

According to La Canfora,ย Brown has issues with Steelers HCย Mike Tomlin and QBย Ben Roethlisberger and feels like the Tomlin is too closely aligned with the Roethlisberger.

This comes a day after a report surfaced that Brown was involved in a practice dispute involving Roethlisbergerย that ultimately led to him being held out of their Week 17 game.

Trading Brown would be really tough for the Steelers, considering that they would take a $21.12 million cap hit by moving him before June 1.ย After that, the dead money hit drops to $7.04 million with the remainder being carried on their 2020 salary cap.

Either way, that’s typically too prohibitive for a team to take on.

Brown, 30, is a former sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2010. He’s currently in the third year of his five-year, $72.71 million contract thatย included aย $19 million signing bonus and stands to make base salaries of $12.625 million and $11.3 million over the next two years of the agreement.

In 2018, Brown appeared in 15 games for the Steelers and caught 104 passes for 1,297 yards and 15 touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Brown as the news is available.
