Jimmy Kempski of PhillyVoice.com reports that the Eagles are expected to free up “quite a bit of cap space” before the start of free agency this March.
According to Kempski, some potential release/trade candidates include: DE Connor Barwin, RB Ryan Mathews, C Jason Kelce, CB Leodis McKelvin, OL Allen Barbre, LB Mychal Kendricks and CB Ron Brooks.
If Philadelphia were to part ways with all of these players, they would pick up around $24.25 million of cap space to work with this offseason.
However, Kempski adds that it’s also possible they could approach LT Jason Peters about restructuring his contract and possibly move on from LB Nigel Bradham, which would increase their cap savings even further.
As things stand right now, OverTheCap.com projects the Eagles have just $7,420,683 of available cap space to work with this offseason, so it makes plenty of sense for them to some moves to boost this figure and allow them to target upgrades at positions of need.
We’ll have more regarding potential roster moves involving the Eagles as the news is available.
