Tom Pelissero reports that the Vikings are “close” to reach an agreement with free agent RT Phil Loadholt on a contract extension.

Tom Pelissero reports that the Minnesota Vikings continue to work on a contract extension with free agent RT Phil Loadholt.

Pelissero adds that it remains unclear whether or not they’ll be able to finalize deal before the start of free agency.

There was some talk that the Vikings may consider franchising him, but with a very deep tackle market, it probably makes sense for them to stick to their price and hope that they can compete for his services in the coming days.

Loadholt, 27, is coming off of a very solid season for Minnesota and comes in as our No. 27 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
