Saints Sign OL Michael Ola, Place TE Jason Vander Laan On IR

The New Orleans Saints have re-signed OL Michael Ola and placed TE Jason Vander Laan on injured reserve Friday, according to Field Yates

Ola, 31, originally signed on with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent out of Hampton back in 2014. He lasted just a few months in Miami before catching on with the Bears.

After stints with the Chargers, Lions, Seahawks, Giants, Bills and Chargers, Ola signed on with the Saints in May of last year and was on and off of their roster. New Orleans brought him back on a one-year contract this past March only to cut him loose coming out of the preseason.

In 2018, Ola appeared in seven games for the Saints.

Vander Laan, 27, originally signed on with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Ferris State back in 2016. He lasted just over a year in New York before joining the Colts during the 2017 season.

Vander Laan had a brief stint with the Panthers before the Saints added him to their practice squad a few months ago. He was promoted to their active a month later.

For his career, Vander Laan has appeared in six total games, but has yet to register a reception.
