Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reports that the Seahawks are hosting free agent ILB Brian Cushing for a visit on Wednesday.
This is the first reported interest in Cushing since he recently became available. There are obvious ties between the Seahawks and Cushing, considering that he played for HC Pete Carroll while they were at USC several years ago.
It’s worth mentioning that signing Cushing to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.
Cushing, 31, is a former first-round pick of the Texans back in 2009. He was entering in the fifth year of his six-year, $55.643 million contractย that includes $21 million guaranteed and set to make a base salary of $7.25 million for the 2018 season when the Texans released him in a move that created $7,640,625 of available cap space.
Cushing received a 10 game suspension last year for violating the league’s PED policy that cost himย over $4 million.
In 2017, Cushing appeared in five games and recorded 16 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
