Seahawks Release TE Travis Beckum & Sign Two Draft Picks

The Seahawks released TE Travis Beckum on Monday, according to the NFL transactions release.

  • Seattle also signed DE Cassius Marsh (fourth round) and DT Jimmy Staten (fifth round) to four-year contracts.

Beckum, 27, signed with the Seahawks back in early February, so it appears as though they prefer their other options at the tight end position as they prepare for OTAs.

He is former third-round pick of the New York Giants, but hasn’t seen any game action since the 2012 season. His best season in the NFL came in 2010 when he caught 13 receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns.

He unfortunately tore his ACH during Super Bowl XLVI and was later placed on the physically unable to perform list at the start of the 2012 regular season.

Seattle still has five draft picks to get under contract, but agreements could be in place before the end of the week.
