According to Field Yates of ESPN, the Steelers brought in free agent TE James O’Shaughnessy for a visit on Monday.
The Steelers could use some depth at the position after losing Jesse James to the Lions last week and O’Shaughnessy is among the best available options.
This is the first reported interest in him since the free agent market officially opened.
O’Shaughnessy, 27, is a former fifth-round pick of the Chiefs back in 2015. He was traded to the Patriots in 2017 for a fifth-round pick, but was waived a year later.
The Jaguars claimed O’Shaughnessy off waivers and he spent the past two years in Jacksonville. He played out the final year of his four-year, $2.473 million rookie contract and has been testing the open market as an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
In 2018, O’Shaughnessy appeared in 14 games for the Jaguars and caught 24 passes for 214 yards receiving and no touchdowns.
We had him featured in our Top 100 Available Free Agents list.
