Steelers “Did Not Like What They Saw” When Examining CB Keenan Lewis’ Hip During Visit

According toย Gerry Dulac of theย Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Steelers are concerned about CB Keenan Lewis‘ hip.

Theย Steelers “did not like what they saw” when examining Lewis’ hip during his recent visit, and Dulac adds that “you might not want to start penciling him on [the Steelers] roster.”

Yesterday, aย former teammate of Lewis’ toldย Chris Adamski that he will likelyย need another six weeks before he’ll be ready to play. However, it sounds like there could be much greater concern for the condition of his hip.

Lewis visited with the Steelers and reportedly receivedย “preliminary inquiries” fromย the Lions, Jets, Cardinals and an unnamed NFC South.

The Saints officially released Lewis on Monday, making himย an unrestricted free agent and one of the best available cornerbacks when healthy.

Lewis, 30,ย is a former third-round pick of the Steelers back in 2009. He spent four years in Pittsburgh before signing a five-year, $25.5 million contract with the Saints in 2013.

New Orleans cut him loose in a move thatย freed up $2.75 million in available cap space.

In 2015,ย Lewis was limited to appearing in six games and recording six tackles, no interceptions and two pass defenses.

We have him featuredย in ourย Best Available Free Agents list.
