Steelers OL Coach Mike Munchak Withdraws From Cardinals’ HC Search

On Wednesday, Steelers OL Coach Mike Munchak announced that he has officially withdrawn from the Cardinals’ head coach search.

Earlier in the day, Chris Mortensen reported that Munchak turned down a second interview for the Cardinals’ head-coaching job, which implied he was no longer in the running for the job.

Some reports had said that he was a serious candidate for the job, but it sounds like he felt it was ultimately best for him to remain in Pittsburgh.

Munchak, 57, played 12 years in the NFL for the Houston Oilers. He was a nine-time Pro Bowl selection, four-time first-team All Pro, and was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2011.

Munchak began his NFL coaching career in 1994 with the Oilers as their offensive assistant/quality control coach and eventually worked his way up to being the Titans head coach in 2011. After Tennessee fired following his third season, Munchak agreed to become the Steelers’ offensive line coach in 2014.
