Steelers Pick Up $2.86M Of Cap Room By Reworking ILB Vince Williams’ Contract

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that the Steelers restructured ILB Vince Williams‘ contract in recent days and cleared $2,863,334 of cap space for the 2019 season.

Pelissero adds that Williams is still due to make $5.1 million for the 2019 season.

Williams, 28, is a former sixth-round pick of the Steelers back in 2013. He was in the final year of his three-year, $6.175 million contract and set to make a base salary of $2 million for the 2018 season when he agreed to a new four-year deal worth $20.6 million last year.

In 2018, Williams appeared in 14 games for the Steelers and recorded 76 tackles, 4.5 sacks, an interception returned for a touchdown and two pass defenses.
