Steelers HC Mike Tomlin announced that QB Devlin Hodges would start for Pittsburgh this week against the Browns, per Brooke Pryor.
“The decision is clear for us,” Tomlin said.
Hodges took over for previous Steelers starting QB Mason Rudolph Sunday and helped lead the team to a win over the Bengals. He started one other game this season while Rudolph was in the concussion protocol.
Hodges, 23, signed with the Steelers as an undrafted free agent out of Samford in May following the 2019 NFL Draft. He was waived coming out of the preseason but re-signed to Pittsburgh’s practice squad.
Pittsburgh promoted Hodges to the active roster following the season-ending injury to QB Ben Roethlisberger.
In 2019, Hodges has appeared in three games for the Steelers and completed 27-of-40 passes for 318 yards, two touchdowns and one interception while rushing for 29 yards.
