Texans Waive G Erik Austell With Non-Football Injury Designation

The Houston Texans officially waived G Erik Austell with a non-football injury designation on Wednesday.

Austell, 24, wound up going undrafted out of Charleston Southern last year but was a priority rookie signing for the Broncos. He actually converted to offensive line after his redshirt freshman season.

The Broncos cut Austell loose last summer and he later signed on with the Texans. After spending the 2017 season on Houston’s practice squad, the Texans re-signed him to a futures contract last month.

In total, Austell started 39 games during his college career and was a first-team All-Big South and second-team FCS All-America as a senior.
