Teams are being forced to make cuts this week to get their rosters down to 53 players which is why players like Darren Sharper keep coming up as possibly being cut.
The Saints have been mulling over the idea of placing Sharper on the PUP/IR list which would keep him out of action until week 7 and give him time get healthy without having to release him. This still seems like the most likely scenario but Saints head coach Sean Payton didn’t rule out the possibility that they could cut Sharper loose.
It would be shocking for the Saints to cut Sharper given that they could place him on the PUP list and have him for the majority of the season. Sharper was a very important to component to their defense which may have been just as responsible for their Super Bowl win than their potent offense.
