Tua Tagovailoa Declares For 2020 Draft

Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa announced on Monday that he intends to declare for the 2020 NFL Draft, per Mike Garafolo.

“I took into consideration the pros and cons of the situation and the decision,” Tagovailoa said via Joe Schad. “We prayed a lot about it. This is a decision that I’m going to have to live with. I made it. I’m good with it.”

Despite suffering a dislocated hip that was initially thought to be potentially career-ending, Tagovailoa is expected to make a full recovery

Tagovailoa is one of the top quarterback prospects in the country and had been in the discussion to be the No. 1 overall pick in next year’s draft before the injury. His medical evaluations will be key to his draft stock, as the NFL Scouting Combine will fall approximately three months after the injury.

“I don’t think any of the doctors can tell the future,” Tagovailoa said per Schad. “Everything looks good. But you can’t really tell until the three-month mark or four-month mark.”

Tagovailoa is still expected by many to be a high first-round pick and will now have the next several months to show the NFL how he’s progressing back from his injury.

For his career, Tagovailoa has completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 7,442 yards, 87 touchdowns and 11 interceptions over the course of three seasons and 32 games. He has also rushed for 340 yards and nine touchdowns.

We’ll have more regarding Tagovailoa as the news is available.
