The Minnesota Vikings announced Wednesday that they’ve placed C Pat Elflein (ankle) will start training camp on the active/PUP list.
Elfein didn’t participate in OTAs and minicamp, so this shouldn’t come as a big surprise.
The Vikings can active Elflein from the PUP list at any time, but should he stay on the list coming out of the preseason, he would revert to the reserve/PUP list, which would cost him the first six games of the season.
Elflein, 24, is a former third-round pick of the Vikings back in 2017. He’s currently in the second year of his four-year, $3.74 million contract and set to make base salaries of $637,000 and $809,500 over the next two years of the agreement.
In 2017, Elflein appeared in 14 games for the Vikings and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 31 center out 35 qualifying players.
