Vikings HC Leslie Frazier told reporters on Wednesday thatย Christian Ponder will remain the team’s starting quarterback against the Packers in Week 12.
This comes just days after Ponder was benched after throwing an interception that was returned for a touchdown during Week 11’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Ponder finished last Sunday completingย 13-of-22 passing for 129 yards, a touchdown, two interceptions and aย lostย fumble.
Matt Cassel relieved him during the game, but it appeared as though the Vikings could turn to Josh Freeman whoย hasn’t playedย since Week 7’s gameย against the Giants.
Ponder has played some of his best football against the Packers, so this could be part of the team’s thinking regarding their decision to stick with him. It’s hard to imagine that Ponder would be able to survive another poor performance.
