According to Tom Pelissero, the Vikings worked out free-agent CB Orlando Scandrick on Wednesday.
Pelissero adds the Vikings also worked out free-agent CB Dexter McDonald.
The Vikings’ depth at corner has been challenged, with CB Holton Hill facing a pair of four-game suspensions and CB Mike Hughes still working back from a torn ACL.
Pelissero says Minnesota has left the door open to signing Scandrick later during training camp.
Scandrick, 32, is a former fifth-round pick of the Cowboys back in 2008. He was in the fourth year of his five-year, $20 million contract and set to make base salaries of $3 million and $4 million over the final two years of the agreement when the Cowboys designated him as a post-June 1 release in 2018.
The Redskins signed Scandrick to a two-year contract that included $1 million guaranteed only to release him in August. The Chiefs scooped Scandrick up on a one-year deal.
In 2018, Scandrick appeared in 15 games for the Chiefs and recorded 44 total tackles, one forced fumble, one interception and 13 pass defenses.
McDonald, 27, is a former seventh-round pick by the Raiders in the 2015 NFL Draft out of Kansas. He finished out his four-year rookie contract and was testing the open market for the first time.
He was waived with an injury designation at the end of last year’s preseason and reverted to the injured reserve where he finished out the year.
In 2017, McDonald appeared in 15 games and recorded 43 total tackles, seven pass defenses, one forced fumble, and no interceptions.
