The Minnesota Vikings brought in free agent S Jahleel Addae, LB Hardy Nickerson and LB Derrick Moncrief for tryouts on Monday, according to Aaron Wilson.
Addae, 30, wound up signing on with the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Central Michigan back in 2013. He managed to make the 53-man roster in each of his first three years in the NFL.
The Chargers elected to re-sign Addae to a four-year deal worth $22 million that included $8 million guaranteed back in 2017 but he was cut loose last March in a move that freed up $5 million of available cap space while creating $1 million in dead money.
Addae signed with the Texans on a one-year deal for the 2019 season.
In 2019, Addae appeared in all 16 games for the Texans and recorded 44 tackles, two interceptions and three pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 64 safety out of 86 qualifying players.
We have him included in our Top 100 Available 2020 Free Agents list.
Nickerson, 26, wound up signing on with the Bengals as an undrafted free agent out of Illinois back in 2017. He was waived a few weeks into his rookie season and later signed to the Bengals’ practice squad.
Since then, Nickerson has been on and off of the Bengals’ active roster.
For his career, Nickerson has appeared in 37 games for the Bengals and recorded 72 tackles, no sacks, a forced fumble and two passes defended.
