Saints To Allow RFA RB Khiry Robinson To Test Open Market

Mike Triplett of ESPN reports that the Saints are not expected to tender restricted free agent RB Khiry Robinson a contract before the start of free agency.

Instead, the Saints are prepared to allow Robinson to test the open market starting next week.

The Saints are still dealing with cap issues, so it appears as though they would prefer to save the money to address other positions.

New Orleans’ backfield options include: Mark Ingram, C.J. Spiller, Marcus Murphy and free agents Tim Hightower and Travaris Cadet.

Robinson, 26, wound up signing on with the Saints as an undrafted free agent out of West Texas A&M back in 2013. He managed to make the team’s 53-man roster in all three years with the Saints.

In 2015, Robinson appeared in eight games and ran for 180 yards on 56 carries (3.2 YPC) to go along with 17 receptions for 115 yards receiving and four touchdowns.
