49ers Lose CB Jimmie Ward To A Quad Injury

49ers CB Jimmie Ward went down during Sunday’s game against the Seahawks with a non-contact injury. San Francisco later ruled him out for the game.

Ward was grabbing for his right quad and was later helped off the field by trainers. Keith Reaser replaced Ward in the 49ers’ lineup.

Ward, 25, is a former first-round pick of the 49ers back in 2014. He’s currently in the third year of his four-year, $7.112 million contract and stands to make a base salary of $1,066,594 for the 2016 season. The 49ers will have to decide whether to pick up his fifth-year option next year.

Entering today’s game, Ward has recorded 12 tackles, no interceptions and two pass defenses for the 49ers.

We’ll have more regarding Ward’s injury as the news is available.
