- Paul Dehner Jr. of Cincinnati.com writes that the Bengals want to focus on getting a long-term extension in place with DT Geno Atkins before turning their attention to DE Carlos Dunlap.
- We have both of them featured in our Top 25 – 2019 NFL Free Agents list.
- Dehner Jr mentions that Bengals fifth-round CB Darius Phillips has stood out during the team’s OTA practices open to the media after recording two interceptions and two pass defenses. Phillips has been working as the Bengals’ No. 2 slot cornerback behind starter Darqueze Dennard and helping out as a returner on special teams.
Former Browns RB Isaiah Crowell says he never knew what his role was going to be while in Cleveland.
“You just never knew,” Crowell told the New York Post. “Sometimes it was [an every-down situation], sometimes it wasn’t. You just never knew week in and week out. I felt like that was discouraging and annoying.”
Crowell started the past 32 games for the Browns, during which they posted a record of 1-31.
“It wasn’t a good feeling. Nobody likes to lose,” Crowell said. “I’m a sore loser. I do whatever I can to win. It wasn’t a good feeling.”
“Like Coach T [Mike Tomlin] says, somebody’s going to find a certain trait in you — as long as you’re good at that trait, you should be around a while,” Hunter said, via Jeremy Fowler of ESPN. “As long as I build off that, I’m trying to sustain it.”
Hunter admits he needs as many reps as possible to show what he can for the Steelers.
“I need every one of [these reps],” Hunter said. “It gives me another op to show what I’ve got against the first team. As long as I keep it consistently, I’ll be straight.”
