Raiders Trying To Finalize Contract With WR Jordy Nelson

Adam Schefter reports that the Raiders are trying to finalize a deal today with veteran WR Jordy Nelson, who still is in Oakland.

“This is going to get done,” one source tells Schefter.

The SeahawksPatriots, Saints and Ravens were also mentioned as potential options for Nelson, but it appears as though the Raiders could prevent them from meeting with Nelson.

One thing to watch is whether the Raiders release veteran WR Michael Crabtree if they sign Nelson to a new deal.

It’s worth mentioning that signing him to a contract won’t impact a team’s 2019 compensatory picks, given that he was released this offseason.

Nelson, 32, is a former second-round pick of the Packers back in 2008. He was entering the final year of his five-year, $43 million contract and set to make a base salary of $9.25 million for the 2018 season when the Packers released him in a move that freed up $10,218,750 of available cap space.

In 2017, Nelson appeared in 15 games for the Packers and caught 53 passes for 482 yards receiving and six touchdowns.

We have him featured in our Top 50 Available 2018 NFL Free Agents list.
