Browns S Jordan Poyer Likely Out For Season With Lacerated Kidney

Mary Kay Cabot reports that the lacerated kidney sustained by Browns S Jordan Poyer will likely cost him the remainder of the 2016 season.

“Obviously we all know that’s pretty serious, so we’ll see where he is from there,” said coach Hue Jackson.

The Cleveland Browns announced that S Jordan Poyer sustained a lacerated kidney during today’s game. He’s expected to remain in the hospital overnight for further evaluation.

There’s currently no word regarding his timeline, but it’s likely Poyer will be out for the foreseeable future.

Browns S Jordan Poyer was taken to the hospital in an ambulance after he took a hit from Titans RB Antonio Andrews in the second quarter of Sunday’s game, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Poyer was evaluated in the locker room for a concussion before being transported to the hospital.

During the play, Poyer took a big blindside hit from Andrews during a punt return and immediately went down in pain.

Poyer, 25, is a former seventh-round pick of the Eagles back in 2013. He’s spent the past three years with the Browns and is in the final year of his four-year, $2.222 million contract.

Entering today’s game, Poyer has appeared in five games and recorded 36 tackles, no interceptions and two pass defenses for the Browns.

We’ll have more regarding Poyer’s injury as the news is available.
